I don't seem to have much luck with these pedals, the first pair that I've bought I managed to round off the adjuster. I've had a new pair which were fine, but today I wanted to tighten the screw but it was really tight, so I think I may just have rounded this one as well. There is at least 50% adjustment left so why are they so stiff. I am going to gutted if this set of pedals are knackered as well. I'm using a 3mm hex tool.

It's a reverse thread so it looks like it's at the max torque?

I have the exact same pedals and never had a problem with them. What screw are you referring to, that you want to tighten? The hex that minimises and/or maximises clipping in/out tension?

Most of my stress are on 540s and I've never had an issue. Ive always thought of them as reliable to a high degree.

Agreed!

I opted for 520's when first going clipless, but changed my mind at the last minute and got some 540's. The metal spindle is a lot better than the plastic one (that you can only really remove with the special Shimano tool) for only a few dollars more...as Clint Eastwood knows only too well.
