Hi,
Long time lurker but hoping for some help. I have a Danish bike (not Dutch!) with hub gears (Shimano Nexus 7 Speed) and roller brakes. I'd like to get a hub dynamo which looks like it might involve buying a new wheel. My front roller brake is an IM50 and according to this table:
http://www.birota.ru/manuals/shimano/allinone/RBA0B_EN.PDF
I need a HB-NX50 or HB-NX60 hub dynamo. Unfortunately I can't seem to find these. I can find a DH-3R40 which usually fits to the IM70. Does anyone understand Shimano designations sufficiently to tell me whether it's a problem to use a 3R40 with an IM50?

Just to note, the front hub incorporates a power modulator. I know these get a bad press, but my brakes are fantastic and work very well. I commute up and down a reasonable hill (well I think it's a reasonable hill) and I also take my daughter on a trailer bike and I've never struggled to stop.

Thanks very much
Katie

Not sure but you could post on the CTC forum where Brucey is very knowledgeable about things like that.

Alternatively SJS Cycles have the front roller brake at ... gulp....£49.99 here.

I agree with you about the Shimano roller brakes. My Giant Expression N3 now converted to N7 has them and they are great.

All shi**no roller brakes are inter compatible, there's only one standard (though fronts differ from rears). Buy a roller brake splined dynamo hub and your current brake will fit.
