Shimano HG 9 speed chain life expectancy

Hello, done about 2500 miles on a chain and It has started jumping - I think it has had it.

Will take to LBS to get it checked out, but just wondering what sort of miles I should expect ?

I have looked after it.

Cassette is a bit newer and teeth look good (i know you should change at same time, but I got out of sync when a previous chain broke)

2.5k on a chain is about normal. The real test is a chain wear checking tool, there are a few different types but even the most basic chain wear checking tool will tell you if the chain has life left in it or not.
