Hi all, has anyone tried to modify a Shimano freehub to fit onto a Campag wheel. Is it possible.

I really don't think it is possible because the Shimano freehub to hub interfaces are nothing like Campag's, additionally their freehubs don't even have the same width. However you can get special spacers to make a Campag cassette Shimano spaced, or Shimano spaced Campag splined cassette. Separately Shimano splined freehubs are available for some wheels made by Campag.

Another little bit of jiggery-pokery in this area.
It doesn't put a Shimano cassette on a Campag wheel.... but it does enable you to use a Shimano style lockring tool to remove a campag cassette.
Get yourself an aluminium campag lockring (Tifosi make them) - the notches can be easily filed just a touch deeper to accept the Shimano style tool (whilst not ruining it for the Camapg tool)
Especially useful if you want an "on-the road" tool like the NBT2 which isnt available in Campag form.
I'm told there is a hypercracker with Campag splines but I don't know anywhere in UK that sells them.

Many Thanks for the replies, I was hoping in vain that it might be possible as Planet X do a set of lightweight wheels but they're sold out of the Shimano flavour, but have plenty of Campag, and I have a Shimano equipped bike.
I found a link to Jtek ShiftMate which gives alternatives, but not the one I want.
The option of the Ambrosio cassette sounds very good.

Ambrosio don't do Campag spline and Shimano spacing. Only the other way round. Plenty of good Shimano deals around at the moment.
