Shimano chains and masterlinks

Hi

I'm about to replace my cassette and chain which is a Ultegra CN-6701

Should I just pin it with the supplied pin or fit a KMC type connector?

are they compatible with Shimano chains?

KMC quick links are fine with Shimano chains - I've been running a 105 chain with a KMC links for the last two years (more than one chain) without problem.

You should replace the kmc links with the chain.

Yip there compatible my old bike came with an Ultegra chain closed by a KMC link. If you plan to occasionally take the chain off, there definitely worth it, even if you don't the inititial fit is just so much easier (no stiff link fiddling). Even if you don't use the KMC link they are usefull to carry for an emergency.

As above, but if you haven't fit the chain yet I'd recommend changing it for a KMC chain.

Shimano chains are pretty poor IME.
