Shimano - Campagnolo harmony/disharmony

A pal of mine needs to replace the Sora 8 speed chain set on his bike because he lent it to a mate of his who has managed to cross thread the pedals when swapping out SPD's for flats.

I have a Campagnolo triple chainset and bottom bracket that I can give him but I've failed to find anything about compatability for the front part of the drive train. There's loads of stuff dealing with the rear end.

Will the chain set work with the Sora STI shifter?

Shimano and Campy chainsets have more or less the same spacing between the chainrings so - yes the Campy triple will work.

You may need a triple front mech if it is being used as a triple though.
