I bought a new BB for my scott cr1 pro ultegra shimano its very similar to my existing one but it does not have a metal ring on the crank arm side that my old one has like a kind of washer/spacer. I bought a new BB even though my old one was not showing any symptoms of failure Im changing the chainset and thought I may as well change the BB at the same time its over 5 years old

Question is should I use the spacer/washer that my orininal BB had and transfer it to new BB In fact is it a spacer at? all or is it a washer? it sits between the inside of the hollowtech 2 cup and the outside of the bike housing the BB cup a kind of washer/spacer I figured it must be a spacer and not a washer but I could be wrong

Incidentaly Also the BB that came with my new chainset (little did I know I would get a BB with it hence me ordering one seperatly) does not have this spacer/washer neither does the one I bought seperately so I figured this must be something to do with the scott bike and not the BB itself

Also the other bb cup (non chainring side) did not have the washer/spacer at all.

And on a final note I was careful to chedk out shimano's compatibility guide and I was looking at the BB for the new chainset I was buying Chain Reaction did not have the BB but had another version they said this would be ok - It looks the same and is the same height However the plastic cover of the bearing housing has a lip on both cups inherintly different to my old BB and the one that came with the chainset. Whilst not important i was wondering should I keep it as a spare or dend it back as this is the only difference? perhpas its a modification who knows?

Any help appreciated thanks in advance
