I have bikes equipped with both. Bugger all in terms of feel or shifting performance. Only differences are visual, or possibly require scales to quantify.
Shifting quality is mainly influenced by the cables, and how 'worn' the rear mech may be. If you can, and it's not much extra, go SLX as they will be slightly lighter
The reason I asked was, I took some deore shifters of my Trek Superfly 5 but wanted to change the sram X5 and X7 derailers on my Ex-Caliber 8 but need to change the shifters to shimano as well.
So as they were free from the Superfly I thought I might use them.
