Picked up an old Peugeot Richard Virenque roadie a couple days ago for next to nothing. Given it a wash and tune up etc, but upon adjusting the gears I found that when shifting up to the largest cog on the cassette the lever doesn't seem to spring back to the neutral position. I have to bring it back manually. Shifting down seems to be ok.

They are RSX 7 speed sti shifters

Any guidance and help would be greatly appreciated

Give it a good spray internally of GT85 and wipe off any gunge - it sometimes, but not always, restores them

are you sure its the shifter and not the cable that is at fault?

Not entirely sure in all honesty. The cables look good enough but I'm going to take them all out tomorrow to have a better look. Could be that the cable is catching or getting stuck along the way. A good tinker around tomorrow should reveal more ;)
