After an extended hiatus, due to (mumble mumble), today I had my first proper bike (ie not a commute) ride since June.

I was huffing and puffing like a hippo on a pogo stick, but I feel wonderful and can't wait to get out again.

Only managed 17 miles (I thought my ears were going to freeze clean off), but that's an okay start, isn't it!

That's a great start MTF. I hadn't been out myself since early October until I had a test run on my re-built Dawes today.

I too was huffing and puffing like a beached whale with asthma, but it felt great to just be back on a bike.

So I'm back to commuting from Monday and just hoping that little and often will be the key to building some base fitness back.

Well done you!!! Remember...it's like a certain brand of crisps...once you pop...and all that!!! (actually just realised that's not a great saying for cycling but hey, the sentiment still counts)

Well done MissTilly!
You are so right, the commute or the riding to the shops is not the same as a proper ride.
I feel motivated reading your post: must get out more to explore!
