Fancy a change and have had a look on the website - reckon if I do a couple of laps of the Red, do the Blue and the Bike Park bit it'll be a decent few hours riding. Anyone been? any thoughts? hours drive for me - worth the trip?

Depends what you want to do. Its flat, fast and fun. Not a whiff of technical for a Cannock Lad, but you can always play in the downhill and jumps sections ( if you can move for lucozade bottles). The Kitchener trail is what you make of it. It's all singletrack apart from a brief fire road section. The majority of it is hardpack, smooth with some bermed corners, and can be dull if you ride it slow. It's a great place for families and novices, but not for a cautious improver; it isn't challenging enough , but set off with the intention of absolutely pinning it and you'll have a great time. Enough pedalling to test your fitness, and twists and turns to test your poise and handling. Take your rigid and you'll have a ball, or take a hardtail and run your fork hard and taut. It's short enough to do twice even with a play on the dirt jumps and downhill park. Use it to discover how well you can corner, and just exactly where your tyres will let go. Busy at weekends, so look out for families on supermarket bikes riding the wrong way ( bitter voice of experience!)

Having been twice (with kids) I'll second this write up ^^^^^

IMO only good as a crosscountry work out circuit. Having said that, it was quite good fun....

As a novice mtber I took kids on the blue route and we had a ball. We were slow and moved to one side for the speed Demons but watched and learned. Some parts an interesting challenge with tandem and and youngest attached via trail gator!! We did the practise park bit by the carpark later in day when empty and that was fun too. There was a more serious practise area to for more hardcore but we could not get to see this. I guess it's 1/2 day worth for cycling for the experienced.
No people going wrong way round. Cafe good. Much faster if you go in to it than outside at kiosk .

Well I finally got around to it this Wednesday gone. Lovely weather and I actually really enjoyed it for what it was. Did the red then blue and ran out of time. I agree a good trail for beginners but probably a bit far for me to go for what is there, but at least I know now. Cheers.

Degla this Tuesday - that should be a bit more interesting!
