Shaving?

I read somewhere that cyclists who spend a lot of time in the saddle clean shave down below to reduce friction / chaffing.

Anyone tried this?

I imagine it would work if you shaved very frequently, but am not sure how comfortable it would be with a stubble.

No.

A lot depends on what type of razor you use...

I do!

Found a 'lump' a few years back and thought I'd get rid of it all before the scan. I've been bald as a boiled egg ever since!

I just got used to it. Have to get the razor out about once a week or it can be quite itchy, other than that it's fine! I hate being hairy.

I started getting very itchy in that area last year. Then realised that it was because it got very sweaty in that region (bare in mind I was cycling in 30c+). So shaved it all off and plastered Vasaline on the affected areas, job done, no more itching.

Thought to start with it was crabs, but couldn't think of how I could have got them. But at my age that's normal (I mean not remembering)!

Have my winter growth at the mo, but will save again when the hot weather arrives.

This thread refers to shaving your backside not your man tackle

Ignore my post, then...

This thread refers to shaving your backside not your man tackle as I think 'down under' is referring to here. I do shave here from time to time and do find it more comfortable. Oh...and a new razor blade helps too...more noticeably than it does on my stubbly face.

You're right, I was referring to the tackle and not the backside. But that Craiglist article is funny.

Just don't read it whilst you're eating.

My experience is if the "short and curlies" are long, I feel as if I am suffering a lot of chaffing then one day I had a rethink and suddenly recalled from the past that what was happening was the hairs were actually getting pulled between the saddle and the shorts making it sore. So all I do is get the electric hair strimmer and just shorten all the hairs by having a No 2 or 3, and the problems solved.
