I was telling my partner about a minor hill I travel up once a week, about 1km long, no nasty surprises, and was saying that it wasn't much of a hill, but I was pleased I could now get up it without looking like a strawberry tart, and he said Oh yes, that hill, that would be significant for a railway. So that's it folks: the professionals may have category climbs (the Vuelta looked properly horrible) but people like me have SFR and any similarity to a steam engine is entirely intentional.
