Severe pain then gone

Hi everyone,

Recently I have being getting quite bad upper thigh pain when cycling. It comes out of the blue. Sometimes I can ride it off. I only cycle for about 3 days a week and the rest of the week I am working away from home as a long distance trucker so I get next to zero steps in a day during these days. The pain is similar to cramp but not cramp.

Any ideas what these pains could be?
They were not an issue last years but I used to walk a lot during my working days in the past while now that is not the case.

Had them as you describe a couple of years ago. Started to do quad stretches after exercise and they went away after a few weeks.
