OK Im not sure if all turbs have the same general setup, but Ive just bought an elite mag lite turbo and just want a bit of advice on setting it up.
Basically, do you remove the cap on the right hand side of the rear spindle or leave it on?
Secondly, how tight do you tighten the clamp on the turbo - until it cant tighten any more or just a little bit?
Also, is it normal for the rear end to be higher than the front end and how do I solve this - just whack a few books under the front wheel?

thanks

I cannot answer the specific question. But, I have the wheel just touching the turbo and a little bit more. I was advised that the tyre should just break free when you pull it quickly but if moved slowly it stays in connection with the turbo. With regard to height, there are turbo wheel risers, you can buy them, but a telephone directory is cheaper.

Tighten the clamps just enough for it not to slip excessively, as per the last post. On my imagic i have a steering fork which make the height of the bike correct. But my previous turbo i used a yellow pages !!! If you keep the bike pointing down it may make you think your going downhill

hmm slightly hijacking the OP here...but if you raise the front wheel so it is higher than the rear wheel, would this be more effective in developing hill climbing ability?

(sorry to go slightly off topic OP)

you leave the cap on.
I use an old brick to raise the level of the front wheel. you want the bike to be level.

really? oops, I removed it tonight for a 30min spin. Didnt seem to fit with it on
