guys im still struggling with set-up. need your help

please could you post your inside leg measurement and saddle height from centre of bottom bracket so i can see if i am in the right ball park here.

Thanks

Inside leg 31"
saddle height 27.77"

as per the 0.883 of inside seam from centre of bottom bracket

not sure that would be much help, tbh. You may have heard this before, but to get in the 'ballpark', just sit on the bike with your socks on and put your heel on the pedal. If your leg is fully extended - or even slightly over-stretched - at the point where the pedal is furthest from your saddle, then your saddle height should be there or thereabouts once you are clipped in.

Fine tuning from that point really has to be down to you, and how you feel on the bike.

Because im trying to work it out via the 0.883 of the inside seam

Having not used the magical 0.883 method, im wondering if youre measuring incorrectly. Im no tailor :P, but i think inside leg is measured from crotch to shoe/ankle and inseam is measured from crotch to floor and you should be measuring the latter.

Black'n'Yellow's method is far easier though if you ask me

Ive used black and yellows method and im still not comfortable. Which is why im trying the Lemond method of

inside seam x 0.883 then make slight adjustments from there.

My mistake for thinking i might get some help from my fellow cc'ers.

the method I suggested will not provide you with your exact saddle height - I don't think there is a method on the planet which will do that (Lemond method included). Any method like that is only designed to give you an APPROXIMATION.

If you are not comfortable, then it clearly means you have not found your ideal saddle height yet - or that you are not actually used to having the saddle at the 'correct' height. Either way, put away the science books and get your allen keys out.

What kind of discomfort are you getting Jowwy?

Slight lower back pain and sore hammy's. But my saddle height before using lemond was 29.7" above the bottom bracket. When i lowered it to the recomended 27.7 it felt a lot better.

Which was why i asked if people could post the measurements so i could compare.

two inch drop is a lot to move it in one go - the more usual increments are something like 3-5mm at a time.

But - comparing other people's measurements will be meaningless - unless you are a clone, your own personal physiology will be unique.

I hope you didn't mean to come over as sounding so ungrateful to the three people who tried to help you within 90 minutes of you posting your problem.
My apologies sincerely - just frustrated a tad.

Im not trying to compare my saddle height or measurements to yours or anyone elses.

Im trying to compare them to the lemond method.

the data will still be useless, as it will assume that a) other people's saddle heights are correct and b) that they also used the Lemond method to ascertain it.
