Currently I have a Forme Pulse Hybrid, about 3 years old but still in excellent condition and the bike that got me back in to cycling, a great bike for 20-25 mile rides but I start to find it uncomfortable for longer rides so Im thinking of selling it. Although no idea what it would be worth.
I also have a Giant Defy Advanced Pro 3 as my main summer road bike, love it awesome bike. However I do want something for winter road riding and summer riding on gravel tracks, towpaths eyc with wifey who will be on a hybrid, possibly touring too. Can afford to go up to £1500 max, although less is good. Lol
Looking at the Planet X London road as an option, although I quite like the idea of sticking to a 105 groupset same as the defy. Anyone any suggestions? Not fussed whether carbon, alu, steel etc, would prefer hydraulic disks if poss too. Must be able to take mudguards.
Btw im 6'6" tall and 19 st so needs to be a biggie!!

PX London road sounds ideal

Or another gravel type bike like this handsome beast from Orro, you won't see many others either, if any, so cachet too

Other options include
Pinnacle Arkose https://www.evanscycles.com/pinnacle-arkose-3-2017-adventure-road-bike-EV275624

Evans have some more too, not all with hydraulic brakes tho

Or keep it real with steel

Visited a few shops today. Very nearly went for the Planet x London Road but in the end went for one of these http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/reviews/road-bikes/whyte-suffolk-105

£999.00 Pi k it up in the morning.

Happy riding, looks a nice bike. I prefer the look of the Whyte, & not sure the PX would have been big enough for you. I'm 6'5" & have a PX RT80, but the XL was too small, had to go for XXL. Most of the PX range only goes upto XXL which is normally 58/59cm & a tad small for us big chaps :okay:

I think what swung me in the end was the Shimano 105 on the Whyte, matching group sets across both bikes this way, although PX would have put Ultegra on the London Road but only with cable disks.

Now does anyone want to buy a Forme Pulse Hybrid, large frame (22") ;)
  • Frame: Forme 700c hybrid alloy 6061

  • Cranks: Shimano FC-M431-L, 48/36/26t
  • Front Derailleur: Shimano FD-M430
  • Rear Derailleur: Shimano SLX
  • Shifters: Shimano SL-M430 27 speed
  • Cassette: Shimano CS-HG50-9s 11-34t for 9-speed
  • Chain: KMC HG53 super narrow chain for 9-speed,114 links
  • Front Hub: Formula DC20, 32h/100mm
  • Rear Hub: Formula DC22, 32h/135mm
  • Rims: Mavic A317 disc, 700cx32h double eyelet
  • Front Tyre: Kenda K1047, Small Block Eight, 700cx32 kevlar
  • Rear Tyre: Kenda K1047, Small Block Eight, 700cx32 kevlar
  • Front Brake: Tektro Auriga comp hydraulic disc 160mm rotor
  • Rear Brake: Tektro Auriga comp hydraulic disc 160mm rotor

Wise choice. I have the Sussex. Put 28mm tyres and mudguards on and its super comfortable. Commute everyday, club rides and got some CX tyres when I go offroad exploring. Plus the Customer Service at Whyte is outstanding. I had a slight issue with a front wheel bearing, one email with a picture of the wheel and a new replacement wheel arrived promptly with tyre and tube. :-)
