I know they are they are a very personal choice, but I'm thinking of buying Selle Italia gel saddle the ones around the £80 mark, any views would help (road bike use, usual runs 40 - 50 miles)

I use the Selle Italia Genuine Gel on my two best bikes. They are outstanding saddles. But then I was brought up on Turbos and Flytes so they feel - to my rear end at least - like the ultimate incarnation of the finest saddles ever made.

I have a Specialised Avatar on the PP and a Selle Italia whatever on the VN . Both have cutouts, both are very comfortable. I couldn't say which is better but at £49 for the Specialised makes it a clear VFM preference.

'ullo,

I have a Selle Italia Maxflite Gelflow on my commuting bike and had one on my 'race' bike and would happily recommend them to anyone, being hitherto the most comfy perch I've tried.

My sit-bones are quite widely spaced however and so when I tried a Fizik Antares - oh! bliss! Glorious comfort!

Sooooooooo.......................

I now have a maxflite gelflow with hardly any miles on it for sale - as long as you have a normal arse and not a cow's arse like me it should suit you (sir)

PM me if you want it.

I have a very cheap sella italia C2 on one of mine, it seems to be well put together even though there's no special gel or cutouts. It's not very padded, which suits me, but the shape is nice and narrow & flat. A solid if unspctacular saddle.
