Hello Folks,
I've just got the kids their first 'real' bikes - a Mongoose BMX and a Carrera Saruna, and I'd like some thing to pootle around with them, and maybe the occasion ride to work (six miles tarmac).
I've been offered a secondhand seven speed Mongoose Crossway 125 for £75. It's been very well used but very well looked after (dry stored and it's just had a new back axle, rear cassette, chain and bottom bracket).
I've taken it out for a test ride and everything works as it should apart from the brakes that need new blocks on the rear.
What are your thoughts on this bike - especially regarding the fact it's only got seven gears (do I even need more gears for what I want to use it for?!)
Your thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.
