Second ride completed! (it's okay, I'll stop posting about them after this!)

10.69 miles :hyper:

It stayed dry (bonus), no wind (bonus!), wasn't too bright....perfect cycling weather for me.
I was flagging a bit on the way back and still had to walk up that damn hill but it felt good!

I've had more issues with my back rather than my leg muscles (which I thought would be the problem for me)
and when I dismount I can hardly stand!
My back is very weak so any tips for gentle strengthening would be appreciated (I have arthritis).

Here's my steed, taking a wee rest at Helix Park

Maybe reduce the distance by 10-20% and ride more often to strengthen your back. Were you on road? If so how did you feel with traffic?

Told you that you would make 10 miles by the end of the week. Looks like 14-15 by Sunday then ?

Sitting on an exercise ball for an hour or so a day may be a solution to your back problems,it is meant to be beneficial in strengthening core muscles which are often neglected in cycling
Instead of sitting in a comfy chair to watch tv or use the computer, use the exercise ball
Magnus Backstedt the ex pro rider is a big advocate of this method to build up core strength and it may also alleviate your arthritis

I am mostly on cycle paths/canal towpaths.
I have to use a stretch of road to get to the cycle paths and tbh, it scares the life out of me!
I was never a confident road rider before so I guess that's not going to change.

Careful with that axle Eugene
More progress, jolly good. Go steady, little but often.

I always wondered why people had massive balls sitting around the house ( that's sounds wrong  ) Now I know its for inner core strength . Makes sense when you think about it .
Well done on your second ride
