Seatpost Sizes

I've got a cheap steel framed bike which I'd like to fit a longer seatpost to. The seatpost that came with the frame is 25.4mm, but a 25.6mm post I have seems to fit OK - I've not had to force it into the frame.

Really just looking to have my opinion that the 0.2mm difference in diameter is neither here or there given the manufacturing tolerances?

If it goes in as you say then I'd use it. I'd also use a smear of copper grease or similar on it to aid removal in the future

It'll be well greased - first thing I do with any new bike is take it apart and grease / copper slip all the bits!
