Seat Racks

Hello,
I have a
Specialized CruX Sport E5 Evo 2015 Cyclocross Bike

I am wondering whether it would be sensible for me to attach a seat rack to the bike for roughly 3-4 days touring. I would be carrying a tent , sleeping bad , clothes , bike pump , inner tube and tools in panniers on the seat rack. I have heard that some seat posts shouldn't have seat racks and i found out my seat post is made from alloy. I wasn't sure whether or not i should purchase a seat rack and whether my bike could support it.

I'am not sure on the seat rack issue but if it's just to carry the camping gear a trailer may be a good alternative perhaps ! They weigh a little more but if my memory is correct the weight capacity of a seat mounted rack is only around 15 kilo's or so and my trailer is rated to 40 kg. Which is more than enough for what I cart around.

Hii for the life in me can't remeber the make of it ! This was bought for me as a xmas prezzie all I know it is german and a two wheeler, ifi had a choice I would have gone for I think they are called bob something a single wheeled model because sometimes you forget it's behind you and I have had a few "close do's" popping between bolardes lol. The single wheeled models don't carry as much weight so all I would do is pop on to ebay or amazon and have a look at what's on there then do a little homework with the weight you may need to carry oh and mine has a removeable plastic tub which doubles up as a table when empty. Sorry I can''t be more help but it's something to do with my age I think lol, and whilst thinking on it I also have pannier racks front and rear on the bike but I prefer the camping gear in the trailer.
