Madly ... and I don't understand why it works this way ... they are sorted in date order, but
not the order we are expecting.
We are expecting them to sort by the date the THREAD was last updated. Right?
The search results
actually sort by the date the POST containing your search query result was last updated.
As per your example of a search for dire straits - click the first entry in the search results and you'll jump part way into the thread to a post that contains "dire straits" and was posted on
14 Dec 2011 - 18:41. The next result leads to a post that was created on
13 Jan 2011 - 08:25. Next instance of a post with "dire straits" is
06 January 2011 - 07:46. And so it goes on, with each POST descending in date/time order.
So the results are not based on the
thread, but rather on the date and time of the
POST within the thread that contains your
search query.
Hopefully that makes some sense.
Cheers,
Shaun
