I have loads of assorted MTB wheels, which I get from scrapped bikes, however I need a way to seal the cup and cone bearings from dirt, some kind of universal rubber seal, is there such a thing ?

If I can't seal them I'd like to swop the hubs for cartridge bearing ones, would this be practicle ?

I don't think you can swap cup and cone for cartridge. The axle is a different shape, the hub has a "cup" shape to accommodate the ball bearings, whilst a hub for cartridge bearings has a recess with a square base.

You want to buy new cartridge hubs and rebuild them on to scrap rims?
