Scrunched up tyre

I ordered a pair of tyres from a well known mail order company. When they arrived yesterday they were taped up in a small box and when I cut the tape one of the tyres remained misshapen due to the way it had been packed. I am not going to be fitting them just yet as the tyres on my bike have a fair bit of life in them. My questions are, is the tyre going to be O.K. if I leave it for a while, will it take the proper shape when I fit it or should I return it and ask the company to deliver tyres in tyre shaped boxes?

It'll take the proper shape once it's on the rim and inflated.

I would love to see a tyre shaped box
I wonder if anyone makes them!

 Like a big pizza box, I guess.

I gather tyres often come scrunched up, Dougster, and are fine once fitted. (I've only ever bought tyres from places like the York rally where they are unwrapped).

if they are wire-bead tyres they will have a permanent kink in them, you may get sidewall failure at that point as the wire rips though the tyre sidewall

if they have Kevlar beads then no problem, although they can be hard to fit the first time.

Kevlar-beaded tyres often look like a dog's breakfast when they're folded up. I'd need power tools to fold a wire-beaded tyre.

ar!
I often put just one side of a new Kevlar beaded tyre on & then leave it for a few hours (handy having spare wheels!) so it'll unkink itself a bit. It may stretch a tiny amount as well. Makes it easier to deal with, anyway

I bought and fitted 2 Delta cruisers last year, the packaging "kink" in my tyre never settled, it was that bad it felt like a buckled wheel when riding. The supplier told me not to panic and it would settle, it never did, and was replaced as faulty.
