Hi

I have a 2 week old raleigh airlite carbon comp. I took it back to the shop today to get some minor adjustments done and when I unloaded it again on getting home I leant it against the stone house wall. I turned to shut the car doors and heard the bike scrape itslef on the wall as it fell to the ground - aaargh !!

The scratching is about 1" by 1" and is on the top horizontal part of the frame - does anyone have any ideas for covering/repainting that kind of damage on a carbon frame ?

Thanks

Peter

Clear nail varnish or car chip paint (gloss). If it's bad, put a sticker over it !!

Good news!

It was going to happen at some time, now you can recover from the trauma and get on with riding!

Best to get these things out of the way.

Terrible things happen to bikes. My Islabike Beinn 26 has quite a few scratches I would think some lacquer from a retouch kit for a car with metallic paint will do it.

(That was my 9 y.o. son typing there!)

This is one of the reasons why I love titanium so much.

A quick rub with a ScotchBrite pad and it's as good as new again.

annoying innit?

most of the scrtaches to my bikes have been casued in simlar fashion, lean it upo agaisnt something whilst cleaning or doing maintenance, tunr round and mysteroiusly they fall over inevitably picking up a scratch o nthe tube, must be aliens I tell you...

with carbon fibre, not that I have tried this, but get some very fine wet'n'dry 1200 or some toothpast to polish the scratch and then spray over with clear laquer.
