My new Scott Aspect was delivered the other day. It was boxed as if it was the way it had left the factory in Indonesia, despite the claim from the place I bought it from that they would pre-build it and check it out so that all I would need to do is attach pedals, front wheel, and handlebars. Yeh, right!! Spent half of yesterday putting it together and then sorting out the derailleur adjustments which obviously hadn't been touched. Brakes also need bled, but that's for another day. Changed the saddle and bar grips for better ones I had lying around from previous bikes.

Today was the first day out. For those that know the area, I went from Largs up the Brisbane Glen road to Loch Thom, then Cornalees visitor centre. From there along the Scroggie Bank road/path to Overton in Greenock and onto the Greenock cut back to Cornalees. Then along the Kelly cut to Wemyss Bay, and for some final punishment a climb up the Meigle road back to Largs. Just over 30 miles done.

Verdict on the bike..... Good fun, but as expected not as smooth running as my Tricross. The running gear is Shimano Alivio so not the best and in time might get upgraded. Same for the fork, obviously budget gear but good enough for my level. I bought it very much as a second bike to the Tricross so that I can have the occasional fun day getting dirty, and that's what I did today! It was great fun and I am looking forward to more of the same .

Unfortunatel I have no pics of todays ride . For once, I remembered the camera. Got up to the top of the Brisbane Glen where the views over Arran, Bute, Argyll and the hills to the north are amazing! So got the camera out, switched it on, got a millisecond of the low battery warning light then it switched itself off.......

Never tried my mountain bike up there but the old largs road is one of my favourite routes on my road bike
