Every cloud ...etc
If the referees are on strike there won't be any football fans fighting on the trains and disrupting rail services, like last Saturday.

I would support the refs up here if they did their job properly.

Can someone explain why Rangers get a penalty, usually for the strangest of reasons, and get an opposition player sent off, again for the most scurrilous of reasons, usually when they are behind/struggling. See last Saturday's game between Rangers and Kilmarnock. They got a penalty, when they were behind. That's one reason.

Secondly, the standard of refereeing in the last 2 Aberdeen games has been dreadful. They had no idea what to do and it did cost us those 2 games and forget all about getting fair and balanced refereeing if your team plays the Old Firm, it won't happen.

They should all resign, not go on strike.

Going back a long way I can remember Gascoine running around the park like a bull, headbutting folk, aparently thats within the rules of the game  I never saw the rangers game but when I got in I was told they'd won; my first instinct was to say, I bet they got a penalty and a Killie player was sent off; guess what I was right  If there was an occaisional mistake, I think I'd be inclined to put it down as a mistake, after all we all make them but there is a history in the case of Scottish refs.

It's happening to often recently to such an extent that myself, and a few of my friends, do not go to games between Aberdeen and any of the Old Firm because we will lose due to refereeing decisions.

Apply the rules equally or quit being a referee. That's why Rangers IMO do quite badly in Europe because the referees are not as easily conned as the eejits in Scotland.

Oh come what a load of tosh

1. THey shouldn't strike (but football needs to learn to treat it's refs better, how they are treated is shocking and it is a wonder why anyone let alone the best people want to get involved)

2. If you think that refs go out to cheat then you have rocks for brains

When football (or any sports) fans learn to use both eyes they will much better.

Rangers do badly in Europe not because of refs but because the standard of footy in Scotland is poor.l

Unfortunately some Scottish refs do seem to go out to cheat, we had one admiting that he told a lie the other week, maybe you just aren't exposed to the consistently poor level of refereeing down south. Whilst I would of said previoulsy, however the standard of Scottish Footall isn't that bad (given the population difference and financial difference) Liverpool, Blackburn and Man United, etc have all found it hard and been defeated by Scottish teams not that long ago; in the past 4 years it has been pretty dire.

Nuts, telling a lie and cheating are hugely different things, personally I thought he should be hung out to dry that ref once found lying.

Don't doubt refs can be bad or even awful but cheats is beyond the pale in my book.

One set of fans dodgy 'cheating ref' pen is the other sides stonewall pen.

Whilst I would agree if this only happened a half dozen times a season its too consistent for my liking. Liars and cheats fall into the same bracket.

When we lived in Edinburgh, my wife and I went to watch Celtic play Hearts. We had good seats, front row about 10 yds from the corner flag. It became easy to spot the off-side play form our seats. Anyway, we became increasingly dismayed at the blatant cheating of the linesman when calling for off-side. He was clearly a Celtic supporter and even my wife who had never been to a football match in her life before was incredulous at the decisions he was making. It ruined the game for us, and we have never been back to watch football as the standard of cheating was simply disgraceful.

But you jumped to the conclusion that bad calls in your view (what would the other team would call good calls!) must be cheating.

Offside is a hugely difficult area to call as witnessed by the time they take to look at the them with the replays and lines drawn on the pitch etc etc.

Bad decisions (which of course happen) are not evidance of cheating.

You wouldn't say that if you saw Scottish Football often. It's not subtle anymore, it's not a simple mistake, it's just blatant bias.

I watch a fair bit of it (ESPN do some god coverage).

It's of a poot standard teh football and the reffing) but I've seen no bias.

A team that attacks more and has more possesion will get more Pens and more free kicks.

What is ridiculous are these claims of bias. What club supporter has not cried claims of bias by the referee at some point ? To say that Scottish football or Scottish refereeing standards are poor is a bit of a cliche IMO. What really pisses me off is certain clubs trying to attain some sort of advantage by playing the minority card, especially when they are clearly in the ascendency.

Those assistant referees really do waste their time running up and down that line all day don't they? Everyone knows that you can easily make offside decisions from a fixed seat by the corner flag.

He was clearly a Celtic supporter

All professional referees have to declare any team preference very early in their careers to the relevant Football Association. They are never given matches involving teams they support.
