I would like to replace my 26x2.2 nobblies for something that is more suited to the road but also capable of some (not to rough) off road. Would the marathons be any good for this? Or can anyone guide me in the right dirrection.

The wheels on my forme rage are Rims: One23 AT24, 26x1.5x32h double wall according to the specs, what would be a good width for my requirements, i will be about 85% on the road and 15% off road. Given the wheels i have what would be the width range I could use on them?

I must say I'm not sure what the figures on the wheel spec means but I would guess at 26" diamiter x 1.5"rim width, I have no idea what the 32h refers too....

any advice greatly appreciated.

The 32h refers to 32 holes - meaning you can put 32 spokes in it

How off road are you looking to go? I was fine on this last month when touring (with 4 panniers) on 700x37c Marathons (thinner than mtb ones)

700c is the wheel size.

I had M+ on my last hybrid and they are good for general stuff but if its slippy / muddy i wouldnt use them, but thats me.

i had 26 x 1.95 on my last bike

They'd be great, I have them on both my hybrids.

On my MTB, which I use for shopping, trail & towpath riding, I have Bell (Asda) tyres bought in-store for £10 each early summer, I was skint and couldn't justify another set of M+'s. They've proved quite grippy, I've suffered no punctures and they have far less resistance than the regular 2" MTB tyres that I had before. They have suffered a lot of abuse and I'm impressed.

I put a set of continental travel contacts on my mtb in Sept and I doubt very much whether they will come off. Ever...

I run them at 70 psi on the road and a little lower on trails and towpaths so the teeth on the sides can get a look in when needed.

So far (touch wood) they have been superb, let me down a lot less than the old set of geax slicks i had. Just watch out for manhole covers when it is wet.
