As long as it wasn't this guy. With apologies if it's been posted before http://www.3news.co.nz/VIDEO-Cyclis...hurch/tabid/423/articleID/249739/Default.aspx

Scalping doesn't really exist unless you're both doing the same distance under the same conditions and on similar bicycles.

If it's a race, you'll have a number on your back (or inked on your skin).

Having said that, if I get passed out on the road I am convinced that the dangerous idiot who passed me was waiting for me behind a bush, saw me coming, sprinted to pass and then took the next left to cool down. How else could it be possible?

Similarly, everyone I pass (granny, 3-year-old, cyclist repairing a puncture) is going flat-out, knows it's an official race and has prepared both self and machine for exactly these moments of intense competition and speed.

Qysh tjeter?

I usualy slow down for the overtakes, and speed up when on my own. If they are only about 1 mph slower i may have to catch up, tail for a little and rest, then pass, and then once a im 20/30 yards infornt, then speed I speed up, weird I know, I do this when running too.
Sounds a bit like me. I guess it must just be a natural competitiveness thing.

I always say hi as I go past, and must admit I get a bit put out that those passing me dont do the same.

It's not hard to be polite, and it also lets people know you are there.

There's nothing worse than someone rushing past really close without any sort of warning

I generally do the same - not that I overtake many people. But when other riders do this to me, they always sound so sarcastic and while they say "morning" I hear"Ha ha ha haa I am faster than yoooooo" and get a bit red misty about the whole thing.
