It's probably a false logic
but what do the guys on the tours use?.....arent those saddles what we should be looking at?

Not seen many brooks type leather saddles when I the watch the TDF on tv...

and they are doing serious milage everyday:smile:

Tell me where my logic breaks down ?

Its all about wieght at that level, pros obsess about it. Plus they spend so long in the saddle they have arses like cows hide?

They may be doing serious mileage but a good portion of that is out of the saddle. Their need for an armchair is less than ours as mere mortals!

isn't there a minimum weight for a bike on the tour? i'm sure i've seen sites with bikes lighter than the pros ride.

Yep, it's 6.8kg. Some of the pro teams build their bikes up to below the minimum weight and then add a chunk of metal to make up the difference.

I'm not sure what the most popular saddle is but aren't Selle Italia SLRs and Flites, and Fizik Ariones fairly common?

I realise the front runners do get out of the saddle a fair bit.......but having watched the tour de france this year....it looks like the peleton hammers along most of the time with most of the riders sitting down.

Someone gave me one of these and I've started using it on my second bike. It's like an armchair.
