How cheap / expensive were the shorts ? I tried a cheap pair from Aldi once but the chamois was in the wrong place and they were hopeless. I also use Assos chamois cream for any of the longer rides and this most excellent.

THEY ARE LUSSO I HAVENT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM BUT RECENTLY IVE BEGAN TO GET SORES

Please turn your "Caps" off as its regarded as shouting.

What are you referring to as saddle sore's? Is it an area that's been chaffed and feels sore, have you got skin ulcers etc? is it just an area that has a pain or an ache?

When you say most of the chamois's at the front, that does sound a bit odd.

You should be sitting on the chamois. It should extend sufficiently far back (and outwards) that when you sit on the saddle, your sit bones should have a layer of padding between them and the saddle. Sometimes, if the chamois's not in the right place (or the right place for you), you may be sitting on the edge of the padding - basically on the seam. This is not good and will almost inevitably give problems with chaffing if not worse.

The saddle sore's must have been terminal

Any seam or stitching that's in a position to rub, or is between your flesh and the seat will make you sore.

Padding makes some people sore too.

I assume by saddle sores you mean small lumps on the perineum which can be unbearably sore to ride on, rather than just chaffing.

I developed this problem for the first time a few years ago, and after unsuccessfully trying a variety of different shorts, was advised by a forum member to invest in a Selle Anatomica Titanico saddle.

This not only cured the problem but the Titanico has turned out to be by far the most comfortable saddle that I have ever had. Unfortunately it is also the most expensive, but overall it is probably one of the best investments I have ever made in terms of cycling comfort.

The Brooks Imperial is similar in concept to the Titanico. but I have not tried it so can't confirm whether it prevents saddle sores.

By the way I found that once you get a bad saddle sore the only way to get rid of it is to have a break from riding for a couple of weeks.

Did you try riding a recumbent instead ;-))
