Hello all

has anyone found a ready stocked saddle pack out there, i would like to get one for a mate who has just started cycling. Doesnt need to be flash or expensive either as it is just a starter to get him going.

thanks,

Not ready stocked but I bought one from Aldi, put a multitool in it from TK Maxx, a little hi-viz pac a mac from Aldi, a puncture repair kit and a Jordan's Museli Bar.

Seems to cover most bases and probably didn't cost more than £25 or so.

My LBS sells one that they put together themselves, if you have a shop near you I'm sure they'll be happy to make you one up.
Packs start at about a tenner, then you'll need a tyre repair kit at what, 4 quid or so for a basic, or a spare tube at a fiver or so, and a cheapish combi tool at about 8 quid. Or whatever else he wants to carry I suppose, mine has a CO2 pump, and a spare tenner in cash. D'ya feel generous?

Thanks top.

Saw this one whilst looking around but to be honest my mate is unlikely to need any tools apart from a p@#$&yr# repair kit and an adjustable.

I doubt his ride has quick release anything - I am just encouraging him to keep with it.

Thanks for the info

Specialized do a nice saddle bag, with some tools and patches in.....

All my tools fit into a soft spectacle case (multi and a tyre lever), they fit in a back pocket along with a mini pump. Two tubes go in a bottle cage or another pocket.

Saddle packs are for MAMILS, they look feckin naff.

This is an option for you,not cheap but looks pretty neat.
Topeak tool bag.

This was the first saddlepack I bought and is still going strong, except the chaintool, the bit that pushes through the pin came off and got lost, so it has a new chain tool. I'm a bit belt and braces so the least I carry on the bike is:-

dummy water bottle storage unit - contains two spare inner tubes, variety of zip ties, nitrile gloves
Topeak tool bag - original contents, new chain tool, another multitool, small adjustable wrench, puncture repair kit(inc some instant patches), powerlinks for 4 different chain sizes, speedlever, spoke wrench

It looks like the chain tool I bought last year which did the same thing, pin was made of cheese and bent after first use.
Luckily we have thousands of suitable pins at work which are 100 times better so I have a couple of these in my pack now.

Has the OP thought about a bottle cage tool pack, fit into the bottle cage and can be filled with whatever you like.
