Saddle clamp problem.....Weird..

I decided to tilt my saddle downwards a bit, so loosen saddle clamp bolt as usual but the cradle at the bottom with the serrated bits seems to have welded itself somehow into the serrated bits underneath! It won't move at all... I've wd40'd it, I have taken a screwdriver to it to prise it loose from the edge... it's not budging! So I can adjust fore/after position, but not the angle. Short of taken a hammer to it, I've run out of options... How on earth did this happen and how the hell do I get it loose? (hope this makes sense :o)

I've had this happen before. Loosen the bolt a bit then grab the saddle at the front and back and wiggle it back and forward. You might need to use your whole body weight so be careful.

I tried everything including leaning and rocking, but was a bit wary about taking a hammer to it...Popped into a really nice LBS in Longridge on the ride today, that someone from the club had recommended - he DID take the hammer to it, a few hefty taps and it finally came off. Now nicely greased, so hopefully should not happen again! If it does, I know what to do!

Asked the guy in the shop what might have caused it and he said blame it on the rider's weight! How cheeky is that?
