did the ryedale rumble yesterday the long route 180 odd km was wondering if anyone else did it and find it as hard?? some monster climbs got cramp after the second big climb blakey bank around 75k and new then id be in for a day of suffering especially the 1 in 3 up rosedale chimney to come.Although all the freindly faces at the feed stops and the great views plus great organisation diluted the pain!
id say looking forward to next year but might have to put more miles in the legs or a bigger block on the back

I did the middle route (walked up Boltby Band and Blakey Bank! xx( ). Nice ride, and I think we were lucky with the weather. I stayed with my sister who lives nearby, and Monday was wet and drizzly all day.

OH did the long route, and managed to cycle up everything. Knackered, though!

His route card said something like 4,500 m of ascent. This seems rather a lot for a route on the Moors (even though it went up and down them several times) - how do they work out these total ascents?

i did the middle one.
was still a bit unfit from being on holiday - walked up a bit of boltby bank but cycled all the way up blakey. Despite blakey being 20% but boltby 'only' 16% according to the signs, just shows it's not the max gradient but how long it's for that's how hard the hill is.

Christ what about that river just after the descent the other side of boltby bank!
i waited for two other riders to go through it first...no idea how deep it was!

did you clean rosedale chimney bank naffets?

I did get gold standard 4:50 for the middle one woohoo:tongue:
