Rusty QR Skewer - Is it the hub too?

Howdy,

On my all weather bike I have Shimano Tiagra hubs. The rear QR Skewer is a bit pitted/orange. Could this be coming from the hub (how do I check) or do these skewers tend to get a bit rusted and just need replacing? Since I noticed I have removed and sprayed with GT85 every clean to try and keep it at bay.

They just get rusty, the water can't be coming from the hub because the axle is a tube. Clean it up with wire wool and smear it with grease.

smear the skewer with grease before refitting it to prevent it rusting and subsequently seizing inside the axle.
