Running Wifli with a standard double?

I take it there are no insurmountable technical reasons not to? I would like the gears for the climbing but still have the 53 for the speed. I changed both my bikes to compacts this year with 11/28's as I tackled a few tough sportives (I have a dodgy knee & back). Big Girl I know.

The issues seem to be cleared and compataclity of the from mech (deraileur) and are the front levers (BRifters Brake levers / shifters) compatible - see http://www.sram.com/sram/road/technologies/wifli_tm)
