I often try to plan a route using Google Maps before I set off on my bike but I find it very cumbersome and time consuming.
Any recommendations for a decent site that does this please
http://www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php is my go to one of choice- you can switch between maps and elevation data as well as uploading and downloading routes (never tried this myself)
www.gpxeditor.com is written by a UK cyclist and has some very nice features. I use it because it shows OS maps as well as Open Cycle Map, Open Street Map and Google. Unfortunately you can't do route drawing with the OS maps displayed, but you can view your route, and do route adjustments with OS showing. You can load/export gpx files.
