roseberry topping

i am planning to go to roseberry topping one day this month on the bike and just wondered where the best place to park and lock the bike, it will properly be for couple of hours.

i am planning going via great ayton.

Don't know about the best place (somewhere nearer and quieter might be better) but there are Sheffield stands on Great Ayton High St.

You can actually ride to the top of Roseberry Topping (if you're feeling energetic?)

I have climbed to the top of Roseberry Topping several times - there's a nice route through the woods which brings you out to a path with steps around the rear. I can't recall seeing bike stands in the car park at the base of the hill. If you do leave them there, make sure you use two locks.

On one occasion, I did actually see a bloke with a mountain bike at the top. Forget cycling up it though unless you really, really want to!.. However, if you've never been up it, worth the view!.

There are two routes to the top. One from Newton under Rosebery, which is a direct assault to the summit, the other from Great Ayton Station which is a better ride. Park in NuR or GA Station, it's a place.
