Just another dumb question....
I'm looking at possibly getting a roof mounted cycle carrier soon.
How do things like mudguards and rack mounted bag stand up to speeds of up to 70mph? (seeing as i dont *quite* get there under my own pedalling power).
Do I need to remove these kind of things ideally, or will they be fine?
Answers on the back of a postcard please to.....

I leave the mudguards, seat pack and pump attached to the bike - never had a problem. I take the lights off the bike if it's raining - otherwise they stay on. I generally remove the water bottle(s) and put them in the boot.

Depends if you hit a low bridge I'd guess .

Take care on the trip (last time I hired a tall vehicle, I forgot and turned into a car-park .. one with a height limiter at the entrance  ).

I 'always' take of computers & panniers/saddle packs, but have left bottles in cages & they have been fine at speeds upto 70mph. Mudguards are fine too

You, the low clearance thing I kind of already had in mind, lol.
Was meaning more to things staying on the bike rather than flying off.
Thanks for all the replies folks.
