Ex Danish rider and TV cycling expert Rolf Sørensen has now admitted to doping. He has made his fortune through cycling, he has a nice house in Denmark and a lovely house in the South of France. All bought through the proceeds of cycling.

But unlike Lance Armstrong who has been pilloried for his drug taking, it appears that if you voluntarily put your hands up you are deemed to be a very decent chap and should be considered even more of an expert and be allowed to keep your lucrative TV contract.

Well at least that is how TV2 in Denmark view the situation.

When will it be understood that all of these riders who have made fortunes by doping and winning are all crooks. It is tantamount to theft.

Lance Armstrongs assets are being stripped away for his involvement, why should this not apply to everyone who gets caught? It must be a huge deterrent that they can take everything off you, after the fact.

Nice guy as Rolf Sørensen appears to be, he will not get any sympathy from me.

EPO and cortisone admitted to. No great shock really given that he was a known client of Cecchini and Conconi.

Excuse me if I don't get involved in the Lance v. everyone else argument again.

Me too Raindog...choosing a bike to ride is even too much for me. I get confused with gear ratios and saddles etc and so I opted for this:

But it goes well with my off roader ^_^

Go on I'll bite. Please note this is pretty much recycling of old news and the distilled thoughts other people who care/take an interest more than me, laced with a bit of legal pragmatism.

I think the difference between LA and the rest is twofold. He proactively, vociferously & vindictively denied doping and targeted those that displeased him on the subject forcing them out of the sport, making their lives hell etc, he wasn't a quiet secret doper keeping out of the limelight and saying nothing, he was actively perpetuating a clean myth. Also If the stories of other riders are true, he didn't just dope himself but coerced others into the same highly successful, highly lucrative operation and he did it with US public funding rather than private sponsorship money. The US authorities have to be seen to be reclaiming tax dollars after what effectively amounted to fraudulent acquisition by Armstrong/postal. Would George Hincape's name have extracted the same level of public funding from the US people?

I'm sure if the sponsors and event organisers wanted the hassle, they could pursue every last doper in the world through the courts to recover the money but they'd spend decades doing it, finding witnesses, taking statements and chasing the estates of Pantani etc probably to ruinous legal costs and making more work than they can cope with. Again with LA there are queues of people now being listened to & volunteering (ish) to spill the beans, which along with the likely multi million dollar recovery makes building the legal case against him financially and logistically viable.
