Oh. Hello.
Is this in the right place? Who knows!

The odometer for my bike shows 2900 miles, I'm not sure if that was all done on the current set of tyres, but either way they don't seem to have much grip, quite smooth? Is this normal for road tyres?

Either way, Christmas is fast approaching. I thought I'd put some new tyres on my 'lovely list of things I want'.
£20 tops per tyre, what would you buy? Recommendations appreciated

I seem to have a bookmark for Michelin Krylion Carbon. Dunno why! These any good?

Do you need them for the Road riding?

I use Schwalbe Stelvios in the winter for puncture resistance. I didn't get one last winter so here's hoping again!

Vredestein Fortezza Tricomps are lovely. A good mix of grip, light weight, feel and puncture resistence. £19.50 from Parkers, or the slightly more winter-proof Quattro Tricomp for £20.50

I use Krylion Carbons on my Winter wheels and they're OK. I think they're they're quite common amongst the long-distance Audax fratenity. I say they're OK 'cos after running Michelin Pro Race 3's on lightweight aero-rims, they feel a bit dead!
The Pro-Race 3's are brill, I'd be happy to run them all winter and I'd be prepared to commute on them too, they're quite tough for a very light tyre that rolls supremely, grip like a grippy thing and are very comfortable.

If you can find them go for Mitchelin pro 3 or Conti' grand prix 4000's.
They're both reasonably puncture resistant / grippy and VERY quick.

Or to save a few pennies you could always opt for the tyres they replaced. Mitch' pro 2 / Conti 3000's. I doubt anyone could tell the older versions from the new ones just by riding them!

On my winter road bike I've got conti 4 seasons, they've got a little more tread than usual; the summer bike has conti grand prix's, they've never had much tread, they've only done 2,250 mls and have only had one snakebite p'ture, when they eventually wear out, they'll probably be replaced with conti grand prix 4000's as they seem to be reccommended here.

Just fitted Pro 3s to mine. No idea about P resistance, but very nippy and roll beautifully.
£45 for 2 from David Hinde. (Smile not included.)

everyone rates the tyres they're using at the moment basically

I don't - my gator skins have been a bag of shoot; starting to look like pin cushions now they've sustained so much damage (including 4 punctures in barely 1000miles - although the 1" nail-like thorn is entirely forgiveable).

I wouldn't use Pro 2's. They're nice fast and comfy tyres in the dry, but skittish in the wet, cut easily and not so P* proof as 3's. Parkers usually waaaay cheapest for PR3's.
