No one had these? what others are recommended?

TBH decent road shoes are about stiffness and lightness but mainly about fit.

Stick with the main makers and avoid cheap models would be my advice.

I use Specialized S-Works which ticks all 3 boxes for me and the boa system is an added bonus.

You don't get many reductions in the price of these even for last years models which says it all really..

Well thats what i was after, never heard of venzo's so thought i would ask on here to see if anyone had any experience with them, North Wave are pretty decent though aren't they? never have cycle shoes before, always a mtb'er and never used clips on them.

All I know about Northwave is that a few pro teams wear them - although I bought some Gaerne's because Pantani was using a pair but they were crap and in all probability Pantani's were a bespoke pair.

Personally I'd stick to the mainsteam shoes in the major shops as you are not going to find a magically brilliant pair elsewhere.

I agree with accountantpete. Stick with a reputable make. I would also recommend that you try them on for size so this could limit an online purchase. I am using Specialized Comp road shoes and the fit for me is perfect - these have the Boa system as well but are not as expensive as the S-Works.

My other half uses northwave shoes, carbon soles she say's they are comfatable, they do look the part nicely put together, she is no hard rider but she does put a few miles down, she has had them about 9 months, well happy with them.

The trouble is that the cheaper the shoe the less comfortable they get IME.

Have a look at Sidi, Shimano, Diadora, Specialized etc.

I had a top end pair of Specialized road shoes but 3 yrs of hard use, resulted in a split between sole and upper. I clearly needed a replacement, but could not justify the top end price of Spec. I got a pair of Diadoro, bit heavier, but equally as comfortable. I am not sure I really notice the difference. I also had a really old pair of Exustar - I use for my commute. I can feel the difference between those and the Diadoro. I think there comes a point that you are chasing marginal gains. A low end shoe will always be a low end shoe and a medium shoe is much better. But, a top end shoe is not much better than a medium level shoe.
