Is there a difference between road and mtb BB that would stop me using a mtb one on my boardman hybrid?

Reason why is I use something funky on my mtb called a RotoR crank http://www.velotechservices.co.uk/rotors.htm I got one cheap off ebay to go on my hybrid but the gearing is to high for me and I just found out RotoR no longer make the 46t outer I need.
Now, I have also just bought a spare mtb triple one and thought if I could fit this to my road bike it would solve all my problems and be a LOT cheaper than buying a road triple as well.

Pleas tell me it would work

Check out the late lamented Sheldon's database on the subject.

You need to check they are both same size/threaded shells.
If so - are they both same crank style? square, Octalink (V1 or V2), Isis or whatever?

And changing to a triple usually needs a slightly longer axle.

That Rotor thing looks "interesting" is it any good?

The RotoR is outstanding, it's especially good for me being an amputee.

The RotoR does complete, BB, rings, cranks everything so it's just the BB shell fitting really. Looked at SB's site and all it mentions is thread type which on both of mine is BSA.
Only other thing would be the offset as a road triple is 45-47.5mm and a mtb triple is 50mm.

Could do, but taking the current RotoR off and reinstalling is a real PITA as it's all locktite'd in so would like a general thumbs up before doing it.
