Hi,

Second post, thanks everyone for their help before.

I bought a carrera virtuoso recently but I am going on the cycle to work scheme possibly and wanted a new road bike. I will be using it to commute to work which is about a 16 miles round trip but i plan to do 25+ miles trip as I get better and hopefully London to Brighton ride.

What would be the most ideal bike for roughly £600?

Thanks,
Marvin.

+1.

All of the above are good bikes. The best one will be the one that rides right for you. Might even be something else. Best bet, get to your LBS, and try a few.

Unless your CTW scheme is hellfrauds only, in which case get down there instead. Bit rotten to trial at the LBS if you're not planning to buy there. If Hellfrauds don't have the models you want to try in, best come clean with the LBS, and promise them a lifetime of accessories / servicing

Is there anything wrong with the fairly new Virtuoso? I am not sure that upgrading from a (very good apparently) £350 bike to a £600 one will be worth it? Can't you just upgrade the wheels and eventually groupset on the original bike over time? Saving a lot of money for the same end result? Not to say that you can't get a nice bike for 600 but I am not sure that it would be massively different in terms of quality :?:

I'm not sure it would be worth your while unless you were going the whole hog in order to by a Boardman Team Carbon.
