Hello all I have a Dawes Giro 300 road bike with an ali frame
I have recently got hold of a seat post rack which is able to hold 10 kilos of weight.
I plan to be taking a tent sleeping bag, camping mat and cloths and basic bike stuff probably about 8 kilos of weight.
Now would it be ok for the bike if i were to do this? I know its not a touring bike but due to money is the only viable option.

I can't see a problem. Get yourself a bar bag so you can spread the weight a bit, which will aid the handling.

Agreed.
Handling may be a bit twitchy however as many road bikes are not designed to have weight swinging off them other than the human operator!

Agree with Joe, it might go a bit front light and twitchy and won't feel as lively but once used to it, you should be fine and some load on the front will help.
