Aware this covers a large area, but apparently we'll be staying near Lake Titisee (no, you're sniggering) in July next year.

Freiburg looks the closest 'big city' but looking for any personal recommendations for bike hire that people may have.

For context, I've been in Lake Garda the last two years and rented through VeloLake.com on both occasions. I had a carbon Giant with Ultegra gearing in year 1 and a carbon Giany with SRAM eTAP year 2 - service was outstanding, pricing was good IMO (65 euro for a day rental including helmet and ferry crossing voucher) and it's the kind of seamless service i'd like to find in Germany.

I think @Andy in Germany is in Baden-Württemberg and might have some thoughts

I just did a quick search in German and came up with this link:

https://www.schwarzwald-tourismus.info/erleben/radfahren/fahrradverleih

I can't vouch for any of these links though, but maybe there worth a look.

The problem you may have is this country has sadly gone E-bike crazy and there's lots of places offering E-bikes but decent analogue bikes are a little harder to find.

In my early secondary school German we had a textbook called Reisebüro Atlas, about a travel agency, and it featured a Frau Bender who booked a holiday to Titisee.

Imagine this in a class of 12 year-old boys.

(this is just an aside, I know it doesn't help in answering your question)
