Road Bike recommendations on a budget

I am currently using a mountain bike to cycle to work & around town. So I am looking to change to a road bike as just using roads, but on a budget as money is tight. Looking under £300.

options currently are Viking Giro D'Italia or Viking Roma or
Carrera Virtuoso Race Limited Edition Road Bike 2012

any thoughts on these bikes or other recommendations as this is all new to me.

Had a virtuoso and for the cash it was a good bike, pretty light and had fittings for a rack and guards [good for real life everyday use]. Watch for Halfords offers and discounts and they can be pretty good value.
Be carefull if Halfords assemble it for you, some are stores OK some are rubbish.

The current value bike of choice for 300 is the decathlon triban 3. Decent frame and carbon fork.

Looks like it will be the Triban if I have a choice. as think i maybe getting halfords vouchers for my birthday hopefully triban 3 & extras from halfords.

triban 3 from decathlon is the way to go, lots of bike for the money

Looks like recommendation is sorted any guide on size as 6ft1 33 inside leg. (Appears different advise when isearch online)

Do they sell the bikes online and actually deliver? Have you gone through the purchase process? I reckon a 57cm or 60cm, perhaps start a new thread calling owners? Or call a store

Reading is nearest but 40 miles away but think I can get delivered via Surrey Quays think it was £14.99

Put the 14.99 towards the fare and have a day out in Reading then, so that you can try the bike for size (check they have the stock before you go), and then you can spend lots more money on all the kit you will be tempted by once you are inside the store .

Have ordered the Triban 3 in 60 cm frame as measured insire leg 34 + 6ft1 have a family + play cricket so another day away from family not so good.
