I like the look of those rear mudguards the riders had on bikes in tour de Yorkshire. The little blades attached to seat post. Anyone know where to get them and what make ?

Also would like a similar type/MTB style crud catcher for little lads Isla bike. I know they do full guards but just wanted a clip on one for when it's raining to keep spray off his bike. It's a cnoc16 so a little bike

Thanks all

Ass savers, Google or lbs

However having seen the muck on the bikes where fitted and the poo stripe up the riders' backs, they are no substitute for proper mudguards

I'd try halfords for the kid bike

the little ass saver guards only protect for the length of the plastic which is probably only going to keep you dry to your waistband, after that you are going to get soaked from the spray off the back wheel, the water will run down your back and your backside is gonna end up wet through anyway. As above, full length mudguards are the way to go, crud catchers are quick fit and remove. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/crud-roadra...|pcrid|71714705102|pkw||pmt||prd|5360392556uk

Well, I got through the winter OK with the occasional use of one. (1200 miles this year so far.) They are very cheap (Aldi have them for £2.99 at present) so why not give it a try? Don't go hanging ugly pointless mudguards on a bike that isn't designed to take them. If you are that bothered about getting wet and muddy buy a bike with mudguard mounts.

By the way, they usually stay on for about 10 minutes on a windy day, especially if you have a narrow saddle. Hack one around for a decent fit, or try securing one with a wiring tie. They do make a bit of a difference. They have nothing like the spray range of "proper" mudguards if you like soaking following riders. You get most of the spray yourself, you see.

I have no problem getting wet or muddy I just thought as an alternative to ugly full winter guards which I have no interest in using all year. I don't commute on a bike so just for when I ride out and it rains. For a few quid will tie wrap it on and give it a try

I've got whatever Planet X call their version. Works well enough for what it is, takes seconds to fit and I've had no problems with it staying in place.
As has been said, they are no substitute for proper mudguards though.

I had one on today (ass saver) and the damn thing flew off in a strong side wind - piece of over-priced tat imo.

It really doesn't fit my saddle at all well and it is a pretty standard Bontrager 135mm road saddle.

I usually use this but lent it to someone to try and it has yet to be returned. :cursing:

I use this with 35mm tyres and get zero crap up my back despite it saying it's for 28mm tyres:

Very quick to fit once you have done the initial adjustment and stays in position whatever the weather and road surface. Looks like a bag of nails though when on the bike.

I've had a set of these fitted over this winter and no complaints kept my backside and frontside dry:

Not expensive, easy to fit and unfit and stay in place.

Went for a top peak defender RC11, easy to put on if it's showers and quick to remove if it's sunny and no need for one

It will do a job this summer and good enough for what I want. Hopefully if forecast is correct it won't be on tomorrow !!!!!
