James Earl Jones, voice of Darth Vader, dies aged 93

Although many will know him as the voice of Darth Vader from the Star Wars franchise, he did many more films. 2 that stand out for me are Conan the Barbarian and The Hunt for Red October. He had a fantastic voice and lent it to many other features.

Iconic voice and a great actor (although he was in a lot of garbage).

Introduced my fiancée to Hunt for Red October at the weekend, one of the better Hollywood submarine films. She wasn't impressed sadly. And when I told her about James Earl Jones she said,

"Oh, the guy you always think is in The Warriors but isn't?"

I've certainly enjoyed a few of his films through the years even though not really much of a Star Wars fan but still enjoyed the movies to a lesser level. He always added some weight to some of his cheesier roles with his fantastic voice. R.I.P.

I still think Prowse's wurzel accent could have worked, and it would imply Vader had worked his way up from a farm boy. Country accents can be scary; "squeal like a hog city boy" being a case in point

That doesn't detract from James Earl Jones talent for all that

To be fair to David Prowse his presence and body language were superbly intimidating.

Darth Vader has lost some height.
